Late November is an in-between time with kids: the autumn leaves are mostly gone and it's too early for sledding. Yongin, just south of Seoul, has two easy answers. Everland switches to its Christmas season, and the Korean Folk Village is calm again after its scary Halloween nights end. Here's how to choose one for your child's age.
Quick facts
- From Seoul: about an hour by car; express buses also run from central Seoul to Everland
- Tip: choose one place per day. Doing both is too much for young kids.
- Under 36 months: bring proof of age (a passport works) for free entry
1. Everland: Christmas right after Halloween
Everland's autumn (Halloween) festival runs until November 22. The Christmas festival usually follows; last year it opened on November 28 and ran to December 31. Last year it had a roughly 30-minute Christmas parade, Santa village shows and fireworks at night. Snow sledding opened gradually from mid-December, so late November is mostly parades and decorations.
- Best for: toddlers to primary kids (the parade and zoo work for little ones)
- Address: 199 Everland-ro, Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin (Korean: 경기 용인시 처인구 포곡읍 에버랜드로 199)
- Tickets: prices change by date
- Strollers and baby room: on the official park map
The fireworks are at night, and many toddlers are too sleepy by then. Focusing on the daytime parade and leaving early works well.
2. Korean Folk Village: calmer after mid-November
The Folk Village runs horror events on Friday to Sunday nights, this year until November 15. After that, kids can explore the thatched houses, market street and play area without scary costumes. It's a hands-on look at traditional Korean life.
- Best for: primary-school kids
- Address: 90 Minsokchon-ro, Giheung-gu, Yongin (Korean: 경기 용인시 기흥구 민속촌로 90)
- Tickets (list price): adults 37,000 won, children (36 months to primary) 30,000 won, under 36 months free with proof
- Hours: weekdays 10:00–18:30; night opening Fri–Sun and holidays
- Parking: free but limited, so arrive early
Discounts change monthly, so check the official site before paying full price. On rainy days, plan around the indoor folk exhibition halls.
Food
Both places have food inside: plenty of restaurants at Everland and market-style food at the Folk Village. High chairs, floor seating and kids' menus vary by restaurant. Bring snacks and water; a hungry child in a long queue can end the day early.
Plans by age
- Ages 4–7: Everland in the morning → zoo and daytime parade → leave by 3–4 PM
- Early primary: Folk Village in the morning → shows and market lunch → play area → home before dinner
- Older kids: a full day at Everland, staying for the fireworks
The two parks are about 30 minutes apart by car. Weekend traffic back to Seoul is heavy in the late afternoon, so leave extra time.
Tips for foreign travelers
- Use Naver Map or KakaoMap for buses; show taxi drivers the Korean name (에버랜드 or 한국민속촌).
- Late-November evenings are cold. Pack an extra layer for kids.
- Renting a car? You need an International Driving Permit.
Summary
In late November, Yongin gives you Everland's Christmas sparkle or a quiet Folk Village. Pick one by your child's age and enjoy an unhurried day.
