November in Jeju has two seasons at once: the silver grass glows gold as it fades, and the camellias are just starting to bloom. This route stays on the west side of the island: yellowtail for lunch, camellia paths in the afternoon and a hilltop sunset.

Quick facts

  • Best dates: mid-November, ideally during the yellowtail festival (Nov 19–22)
  • Sunset: about 17:32 on Nov 15, 17:26 on Nov 30
  • Getting around: rental car recommended

1. Lunch: yellowtail at Moseulpo

Bangeo (yellowtail) is Jeju's winter fish. The Choenamdan Bangeo Festival runs November 19–22, 2026 at Moseulpo Port. Last year entry was free and it ran 11:00–19:00, with hands-on fish catching for 20,000 won; 2026 times and fees are still to be announced. Even outside the festival, Moseulpo's restaurants serve yellowtail sashimi all month.

2. Afternoon: Camellia Hill

About 500 camellia varieties and 6,000 trees bloom in turns from autumn to spring. When petals cover the paths, they look like a red carpet.

  • Address: 166 Byeongak-ro, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo (Korean: 서귀포시 안덕면 병악로 166)
  • Hours (from November): 08:30–18:00, last entry 17:00 · free parking · open every day
  • Tickets: adults 10,000–12,000 won
  • Sasanqua camellias usually start in mid-November, but last year a warm autumn delayed full bloom to mid-December

3. Sunset: Saebyeol Oreum

This volcanic cone is west Jeju's favorite sunset spot. The climb is about 20 minutes but fairly steep, so wear sneakers. There's a large free parking lot at the base.

  • Location: Bongseong-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju City (Korean: 제주시 애월읍 봉성리)
  • Start climbing before 4 PM to be at the top for sunset. Leave Camellia Hill around 2 PM.
  • Silver grass peaks mid-October to early or mid-November; late November may be past its best
  • The summit is very windy; bring an extra layer each.

4. Evening: dinner in Aewol

From Saebyeol Oreum it's a short drive to the Aewol coast, lined with ocean-view restaurants and cafés. Weekend waits can be long, so book where possible.

  2. 14:00 Camellia Hill
