Jeonju lets you do a whole romantic day on foot: hanok alleys in the afternoon, a pavilion sunset over the stream and rooftop night views. In November the sun sets early, so this route is built around sunset time.
Quick facts: November sunset in Jeonju
- Nov 10: 17:28 · Nov 15: 17:25 · Nov 20: 17:22 · Nov 25: 17:20
- The sky stays purple for 20+ minutes after sunset; be in position by 5 PM.
- From Seoul: KTX about 1h 40m
1. Afternoon: hanok alleys & Gyeonggijeon
Start around 1–2 PM. Tiled roofs line every alley, and many couples rent hanbok for photos.
- Gyeonggijeon: adults 3,000 won; the main hall is closed for repainting until about December 17
- November exhibition: a crafts show by 12 artisans at the Hanok Village History Museum
- Nov 21 (Sat): a 1593 royal exam parade reenactment with free traditional tea
2. Café break
Podosi Coffee, featured by GQ Korea, serves siphon coffee by day and whisky by night (12:00–20:00).
3. Sunset: Cheongyeonru on Namcheon Bridge
At the edge of the hanok village, a wooden pavilion sits on top of Namcheon Bridge over the Jeonjucheon stream. It's beautiful at dusk and after dark. For photos, look back at the pavilion from the stream embankment. Then cross into Seohak-dong, a quiet neighborhood of small studios and galleries.
4. Night: Omokdae view & Gyeonggijeon night programs
Climb to Omokdae for a view over the hanok rooftops (some stairs; night lighting). From June to November, Gyeonggijeon runs night programs: a Korean traditional music concert on Fridays and a night walk on Saturdays. November is the last month this year, so check dates and booking.
5. Late bites and where to stay
Jeonju is famous for gamaek, cheap beer and dried snacks at corner shops. One of the most famous spots has closed, so check before you go. Owonjip, open until about 2:40 AM, is a late-night option. Staying over? Book a hanok guesthouse inside the village and walk the empty alleys early in the morning.
